E=MC²³ Electronic Music Coders Amsterdam
The Topics[edit]
Audio[edit]
The building blocks of sound and music.
Coding[edit]
This is a coding site for musicians. Whilst experimental and electronic music does not require coding skills this site is for those techno druids that wish to go that one level deeper. However code takes second place to music. Musical agenda and purity takes precedence over coding agenda. Using Adverserial Networks, Tensorflow, Keras and numerous other tools and techniques to assist the composer, musician, producer and musicologist. As Deep Learning becomes more and more ubiquitous, it has seen tremendous success in handling audio. With deep learning, the traditional audio processing techniques are no longer needed, and we can rely on standard data preparation without requiring a lot of manual and custom generation of features.
Oscillators, Filters, Fuzz. We go through the theory and the practical of modern digital signal processing techniques. From Audio signal processing, the ability to intentionally manipulate and modify a piece of sound has opened up considerable opportunities for music making. The evolution of technology has often driven new audio tools and effects, from early architectural acoustics through electromechanical and electronic devices to the digitisation of music production studios.

Studio Technology[edit]
Software, Hardware, Studio design, With a DIY mentality we cover the project, bedroom and livestreaming studios and everything needed to run one.

Performance[edit]
Livestreaming, Concerts, Djing, Modular Synth, Performance Art. Latency? What should be pre-rendered? How many plugins can your machine handle in a live environment? How engaging is your stage presence? Maybe your work includes stage design and fashion items.

Composition[edit]
Music Theory, Sound Design, Generative Composition, Beats, Rhythm, Groove, Melody, Counterpoint, Arrangements, it's all here. From the Circle of Fifths to Digital Orchestral arrangements, we cover anything that will improve the musical knowledge of you and your Artificial Intelligence assistant.

Musicology[edit]
The Past, Present, and Future of Music. What is music? What does it offer us? What can we offer it? We will attempt to draw on a less euro-centric approach, combining traditional historical musicology and anthropological musicology into one branch (the other being systemic musicology, music theory etc). We will investigate the subversive musicology of modern urban communities and sonic warfare, travel guides for soundscapers and music catchers, and a potential blueprint for mentors, musicians and composers combating the destructive anti-creative force of modern capitalism.
